Communications of the ACM. This is the flagship publication of the ACM. The articles have often a strong academic bias, but it is a very interesting reading also for the more "practical" software developers.


Dr Dobb's journal. This journal is written by developers for developers. The quality of the articles is usually good. Some articles are also available on-line.


Harvard Business Review. A must read for the one interested in learning more about management and leadership.
IEEE Computer. This is the flagship publication of the IEEE Computer Society. The range of topics varies between the "theoretical" and the "practical" ones with a stronger bias on the practical side. It is available printed or on-line to all members of the IEEE Computer Society. A must read.


IEEE Software. Published by the IEEE Computer Society, it is one of the best magazines for the software practitioners. The focus is on applied software engineering issues. Available to subscribers only. A must read.


Overload. Published by the ACCU, is a bi-monthly magazine with high quality articles about all aspects of software development. The on-line archives are freely accessible. Highly recommended.
